 A grey tooth often signifies that the nerve in the tooth is dead.

• Trauma
• Infection
• An old root canal.

A tooth will break if it has had a root canal in the past without a crown to reinforce it ,if it has silent decay and so the enamel is unsupported or due to an accident or tooth grinding.

An Xray will be required to determine if there is a presence of infection or decay in the tooth (even if you do not feel pain,these can be present) and will need to be addressed first.
